More about the Canticle of the Creatures
10th Anniversary of Laudato Si’
The Canticle remains relevant in light of today’s ecological and social crises. Its themes are echoed powerfully in Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical on integral ecology, which draws deeply from Franciscan spirituality. The encyclical also calls for greater ecological conversion, and to accelerate action on the escalating climate and ecological crises.
A Decade of Impact and a Call to Action
• 10th Anniversary: This occasion serves as a significant point for global reflection and renewed commitment to the "cry of the earth and the cry of the poor".
• Integral Ecology: Laudato Si' introduced the concept of integral ecology, emphasising the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic issues, and it also calls for a holistic approach to sustainability in a world facing growing crises.
Momentum for Ecological Conversion
• Deepening Commitment: The anniversary is a global reminder of humanity's shared responsibility to care for Earth. It aims to deepen the understanding and practice of ecological conversion—a profound personal and communal transformation toward sustainable living.
• More Action: With the climate crisis worsening, 2025 is a critical year to translate Laudato Si''s principles into more urgent and effective actions, fostering a shared space for collaboration and action.
Building a Future of Hope
• Community and Connection: Events and global celebrations foster stronger connections between communities dedicated to creation care, nurturing a spirit of hope and collective effort.
• Inspiring a New Culture: Laudato Si'‘s message continues to inspire diverse audiences, from scientists and artists to policymakers and grassroots communities, encouraging the development of a more just, humane, and sustainable future.
