Re-Visioning Spiritual Direction in a Changing World

Speaker: Br. Collin Wee, FSC

Training programmes in pastoral care and psychotherapy tend to be quite different from training programmes in spiritual direction. Their provision of care is different:  psychotherapy is associated with a pathology/crisis intervention model while spiritual direction is associated with a wellness/growth model. While psychotherapy tends to focus directly on the individual’s personal crisis, relationship with a spouse, family members or a peer, spiritual direction focuses more directly on the individual’s encounter with God.

In his session, Brother Collin will share his thoughts on how social systems must adapt. And describes the process of change or no change through observation and therapeutic intervention.
