St Mary of the Angels Counselling Ministry aims to help those who are coping alone with their troubles and any difficulties in life.
Many people have issues and problems and they could be spending much of their time, energy and stress coping with them. They may have reasons not to tell anyone: fear, constraints, shame, too much to lose, unsure if others will accept, or no one to turn to etc.
Having someone who will listen in confidentiality is the first step that can be helpful to him or her. Volunteer counsellors provide a listening ear and can also help those they counsel to achieve goals, such as a better understanding of their problems and working towards a possible solution.
St Peregrine's Cancer Support
St Peregrine’s Cancer Support Group provides support for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers through prayers, talks and home and hospital visits.
Most of the group members are cancer survivors who, having experienced God’s touch in their trauma, have helped not only to sustain themselves but many others who suffer silently and patiently welcoming whatever assistance rendered.
The Caregivers Support Group meets on every last Tuesday of the month, in support of those who care for their elderly and sick.
Ministry of Consolation
The Ministry of Consolation prays at the wake of deceased parishioners on the eve of the funeral.
The Chinese Community (Mandarin speaking), have various Ministries such as the Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministry, Bible Studies Group, Legion of Mary, Divine Mercy, NCC, Ministry of Consolation and so forth.
Periodically, some of our ministries like the Legion of Mary and Bible studies group will visit Elderly Care homes, hospitals or even make home visits to the sick and needy. The Eucharistic minister will also deliver Communion to the elderly or the sick as and when required.
