Social Assistance

Society of Saint Vincent De Paul (SSVP)

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris in 1833 by a group of young laymen. It is a voluntary organisation of lay men and women dedicated to providing personal help to people in any kind of need. Today we are an international organisation focusing to help the less fortunate regardless of race or religion.

Our work is based on direct, one-to-one interaction with people in need, no matter what their origin or belief. We visit them in their own place, whether that is their home, a residential home, hospital, on the streets or in prison, wherever they are, offering our friendship as the basis for all the other help we give.

We welcome enquiries from interested fellow parishioners to join us walk with our Friends In Need(FINS).

Counselling

Counselling

St Mary of the Angels Counselling Ministry aims to help those who are coping alone with their troubles and any difficulties in life.

Many people have issues and problems and they could be spending much of their time, energy and stress coping with them. They may have reasons not to tell anyone: fear, constraints, shame, too much to lose, unsure if others will accept, or no one to turn to etc.

Having someone who will listen in confidentiality is the first step that can be helpful to him or her. Volunteer counsellors provide a listening ear and can also help those they counsel to achieve goals, such as a better understanding of their problems and working towards a possible solution.
