SMOTA New Website
In an effort to communicate better with its parishioners, the Church of St Mary of the Angels will launch a revamped website on the Parish Feast Day on 31 July. The new website, to be made available at www.stmary.sg, will include an all new look and additional functions to make it easier for viewers to navigate the website and find critical information.
“As with every other fruit of human ingenuity, the new communications technologies must be placed at the service of the integral good of the individual and of the whole of humanity,” said Pope Benedict XVI in a message to Catholics for the 45th World Communications Day celebrated on 5 June. “If used wisely, they can contribute to the satisfaction of the desire for meaning, truth and unity which remain the most profound aspirations of each human being.”
Archbishop Nicholas Chia also celebrated a special Mass in honour of the event at the Divine Mercy Church. The Archdiocese had invited individuals from all facets of communications, including broadcasting, journalism, public relations, advertising and education to attend.
The online version of St Mary’s parish newspaper, tomorrow, was also launched on 5 June, to coincide with the urgings of the leaders of the Catholic Church to engage actively with the Catholic community in this digital age.
Pope Benedict urged Christians to “join the network of relationships which the digital era has made possible… because this network is an integral part of human life.”
“In this field too we are called to proclaim our faith that Christ is God, the Saviour of humanity and of history, the one in whom all things find their fulfillment,” he said.
