RCIA/RCIY
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Youths (RCIY) is the process by which youths, young adults and adults are initiated into the Roman Catholic Church. Participants are guided and cared for as they awaken in faith and are gradually introduced to the Catholic way of life. The process consists of a year long journey of faith formation accompanied by catechists, sponsors, priests and the parish community. The process is a series of carefully planned stages and marked by liturgical rites in the presence of the whole community, in the celebration of the Sacrament of Initiation (Sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil, from which new Catholics embark on and join the Catholic community in a continuing and deepening conversion into faith and discipleship.
