This love is not something we can generate ourselves;
it comes to us through the Holy Spirit
who has been given to us.
St. Augustine, 5th century
Let Me Just Want You, Jesus
As a human, I guess many of us will experience that sometimes we have uncontrollable desires, be it in our heart or in our mind. We tend to want something beyond our basic needs and move up the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. And, again, being human, we are likely to never feel satisfied with what we have and keep wanting more and more.
Then, when we (sometimes unconsciously) become afraid of losing what we have, it is when jealousy comes in.
Based on what I found in Wikipedia,
Jealousy is an emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, such as a relationship, friendship, or love.
Well, I guess in my life (and my friends’ life), I have experienced all the three values mentioned above. And yes, I often feel insecure when there is anything/anybody that comes into the picture, who seems to ‘take away’ what I have.
However, when I listened to this song by Planetshakers (it’s a very beautiful song), titled I Just Want You Jesus
More than a nice melody,
More than the sweetest of words,
This is love i have found,
and with this love i am found.
I just want you Jesus, i just want you my Lord,
I just want you Jesus, i just want you.
Never could i comprehend,
The love you so freely give,
Never could i be with you,
But you love covers all of my sin.
I just want you Jesus,
I just want you my Lord,
I just want you Jesus, i just want you.
There is no greater love than yours,
Nothing else could ever compare,
And even if i search all the world, i will never find a love like yours.
There is no greater love than yours,
Nothing else could ever compare,
And even if i search all the world i will never find a love like yours.
I just want you Jesus,
I just want you my Lord,
I just want you Jesus,
I just want you,
Jesus!
I was reminded that I have my Jesus whom God has sent to me to express His great love for me. A love that cannot be compared. A love that He freely gives and a love that cannot be found from anywhere else.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” – John 3:16
I also realized that actually every thing and every person that I encounter in my life are all gifts from the Lord to me. And God wants to remind me, that I shall not fear if I am losing anything in my life because I will never lose Him. I will never lose Him as my source of gifts and He will never let my cup to be empty because He will bless me with His overflowing love. He will love me till the end of time.
So I think it’s time for me to focus not too much on the gifts, but on the Giver: the Heavenly Father.
“We hope to enjoy for ever the vision of your glory, through Christ our Lord, from whom all good things come.” – Eucharistic Prayer III
Dear Lord, thank You for all the gifts that You have given to me. Thank you for the relationship, the friendship, and the love that You have created between me and the people around me. Thank You for making my life to be so colorful and unique with what I have and with what I have experienced. However, help me Lord, not fear when I need to let go what I used to have. Teach me and lead me, Lord, so that I can control my human desire, and transform me to desire more and more of You and to focus on You for being the source of all. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
