If there be a true way that leads to the Everlasting Kingdom,
it is most certainly that of suffering, patiently endured.

Reflection on The Teen Timeline by Logos
Here is a snapshot of what I've learnt during Logos.
1) Why did the Isrealites keep losing their way in the desert for 40 days? Because Man was leading themselves and did not ask for directions from God. (so, basically, it relfects upon our daily life, that we have to depend on God not just on our own abilities. With God, the impossible becomes possible!)
2) The bible is a collection of books and it consists of 46 Old Testaments and 26 New Testaments. 14 narrative books and 59 supplemental books. The bible is the word of god, which is what God inspired.
3) With great power comes great responsibility (if I finished the whole T3 bible study with Logos, I'll be more knowledgeable in scriptures than 95% of the people attending mass in church! (That is what Mark Hart said in the video) Wow, so I have to live God's ways through my actions and deeds and to spread his Word! :)
4) Sin is death. Hence we have to ask God for guidance in prayer and in humility.
5) How much does God loves us? God would rather die than spend enternity without us.
6) The goal of our catholic faith is " because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him." (Peter 1:9) Our goal is not only to receive salvation of our souls but also for others. (Let us all go to heaven! :)
7) As parents, they always want their kids to be with them. Same as God, our Father. He wants all his children to be with him in heaven. God wants to use us and we have to put ourselves in a position to be used by God.
8) The Trinity is a symbol of perfect love. Why does God create men? So that we can be receivers of His love. An object and desire of His love. Perfect love requires an object of love and we are the object of love.
9)Bereshith: means "in the beginning" in Hebrew
10) All the different books in the bible in Hebrew is named after the first few words of the first chapter of each book. Similarly, the magistarium, the documents of the Vatican are also named after the first few words of every document.
11) The Church is seen as a family. The whole life of the family is seen in the church. and the big church is a reflection of the little church, that is our own family.
12) The Old Testament is generally written in Hebrew. The New Testament is written mostly in Greek and a little bit in Hebrew.
13) Shalom means 'peace' in Jewish.
14) St Paul's Hebrew name is Saul. Paul is his Roman name. Before his conversion to God, Saul was the name commonly used in the bible. After his conversion, Paul is widely used so as to mark the time of his conversion. Paul was used as an instrument of God to convert the Greeks, using his Hebrew background. At that time, the Romans conquered a majority of the Greeks. The Greek culture is seen as the most pre-dominant language used and they are seemed to be elite people. So much so that when the Romans conquered the Greeks, they too wanted to be like the Greeks in culture and language and started speaking in Greek instead. In order to convert the Greeks to God, Paul compared God to the unknown god that the Greeks used to worship.
15) Readings on 2 Kings 17:29-32 "But the people who settled in Samaria continued to make their own idols, and they placed them in the shrines that the Israelites had built. Each different group made idols of the god Succoth Benoth; the people of the Cuth, idols of Nergal; the people of Ivvah, idols of Nibhaz and Tartak; and the people of Sepharvaim sacrificed their children as burnt offerings to their gods Adrammelech and Anammelech. These people also worshipped the Lord and chose from among their own number all sorts of people to serve as priests at the pagan places of worship and to offer sacrifices for them there." (Basil will explain what this means at the next session . I'm still clueless about it, but I think it just shows Man's ignorance about God and how they continue worshipping their own idols.)
That basically sums up the things that caught my attention during Logos. If you think it inspires you further to want to know more about the bible, drop down to San Damiano Friary in the Youth office every tuesday 8-10pm. If it did not inspire you the slightest bit, then contact Basil (our learned facilitator) and he'll update you on all the things we have learnt last week. haha :)
With lots of love,
Priscilla

Well done!
Thanks Priscilla for the points. I like point number 7. The speaker himself as a father spoke from his heart, how he wanted his children to be around. And God also wants each one of us personally to be around His table.
Another point that I think is interesting is that the Church expects us to read the readings before hand or in advance :)
And the most important question to be asked while we read Bible is "Why?". Why are we here? Why that happen? Why it is not otherwise?
I also like the opening prayer said by Mark Hart in the beginning, haha... Anyone who attended last night still remember it?
How about the others? Which point do you find the most intriguing or interesting?
"To have courage for whatever comes in life - everything lies in that." (St Teresa of Avila)
Nice job Priscilla!
Thanks Priscilla for the summary!
What struck me the most about this introductory session was:
The Bible is a love letter from God. As we study about the Bible, we gain the knowledge in our head. But it is our hearts that God wants to touch. This journey from the head to the heart is what is most important and it might be the longest journey we take. Learning to love with our hearts. Therefore, I believe we should strive to let the growth in our spiritual life and in our knowledge of the Bible should work its way to our daily life, to change and mould it.
And this is only the introductory session! Stay tune for next Tuesday when we start from Genesis 1-11. Would Adam and Eve be tempted? Would Noah survive the flood? Would they finish the Tower of Babel?? (No spoilers please.) Come and join us next Tuesday to find out!
This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections. - St. Augustine.
