Superb book

I bought this book from Emmaus YISS book barrow. Thank to Ben whose marketing is so good.

I have not finished reading it, but it is a really good book.
It helps me to reflect on my life especially about the sins mentioned in the book.

A very clear and deep explanation.

Finishing to read, i guess by this weekend.

All-in-one writer

I think any book by the Archbishop Fulton Sheen will be a good read. He is such an all-encompassing writer/person... theology, philosophy, and spirituality all-in-one...

You can also find early TV and radio recordings of him online, you can search on Google.

If you want to read more, I have another 2 books from him which is Peace of Soul and From the Angel's Blackboard. Both are in the library now!

This is a great book by Fulton Sheen. It really covers the seven capital sins and their aspects in life.

I like the part when he discussed about spiritual sloth, about the work we must do for a completed life. It's about how well we played the role assigned to us in this life.

May we never die too soon! This does not mean no dying young; it means not dying with our appointed tasks undone. It is indeed a curious fact that no one ever thinks of Our Lord as dying too young! That is because He finished His Father's business. But no matter how old we are when we die, we always feel there is something more to be done. Why do we feel that way, unless it is because we did not do well the tasks assigned to us?

A recommended book to read and it's not thick nor daunting.

"To have courage for whatever comes in life - everything lies in that." (St Teresa of Avila)

Great Book! :)

Oh, I've learnt a lot after reading this book! I discovered that there are so many things to be unfold about these seven deadly sins. I also realized how these sins are so much related to my own life and my religious faith as a Catholic.

Another interesting thing that I found from this book is that for every single sin, the author can relate it with a bible verse portraying the time when Jesus encounters each of the sin in his life. This author has pretty well shown me how I can look at Jesus as my role model in facing human tendency to sin, but yet able to remain sinless.

So thanks for lending me this book! :D

Irma review about the book

About Sloth : it is Finished

Sloth may be either physical or spiritual.

It is physical when it manifest itself in laziness, procrastination, idleness, softness, indifference, and nonchalance.

It is spiritual when it shows itself in an indifference to character betterment, a distaste for the spiritual, a hurried crowding of devotions, a lukewarmness and failure to cultivate new virtue.

taken from page 62 paragraph 1.

Reading this make me realize that I have committed sloth in my days, both physical and spiritual manifestation.

I guess life is hard, and there will be suffering as well. Our role model is Jesus, and He has conquered the sin by saying It is Finished.

I hope by the good works that I do in order to manifest the Faith I have been gifted I will be able to finish the assignment, the works, the tasks I have been entrusted by the Father.

Nice book, just finished it a week ago. The way Fulton Sheen writes remind me of another great writer, St. Francis deSales. You should try to read his book, "Introduction to devout life".

Anyway, the book really helped me to examine my life better, especially during this lent :)
