Manga vs Bible

A week ago, onemanga.com announce they remove online reading for their site because of some issue with the manga publisher. This website helps me to go through plenty of lonely night, and i realize i spent time reading manga much much more often than reading my bible. Maybe this is a sign from Above to help me to read my bible more :p

Suddenly i have so much more free time to do more things lately, and this post is just a little trivia to say that reading manga / watching anime it's not so useless and unrelated to my religious life, because when reading manga sometimes i can see what God want me to learn from all of this. As well as when reading bible can be as much fun as reading manga / watching anime.

I list down trivia from some manga / anime that i feel that God "Creatively" speak to me


ONE PIECE
- Story about pirates and one piece treasure that was hidden at the end of the world.
- Do you remember another story about a carpenter and fishermen, about the promise of heavenly treasure at the end of the world?

- Special fruits are found all over the world that will give the one who eat it with special power.
- But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22)

- My most memorable scene is when their ship which already accompanied them for so long was damage beyond repair and before the ship "die", it save all the crew from falling to the sea for their death.
- Die on the cross to save all humans from falling to the sin and death. Sounds familiar?


DEATH NOTE
- Story about a notebook, any human name written on that book will die.
- If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15)

- The owner of this book is shinigami (angel of death). This book can help you achieve your goal in life. And the user of the book trying to make a better world by killing all the bad guys.
- Sometimes devil can deceive you with lies and empty promises that sounds so pleasing in the ear and mind. And sometimes we are fallen to it because we feel like we are doing a good thing.


FULL METAL ALCHEMIST
- Story about journey of 2 brothers using alchemy science (power to transform material) to restore the body of the younger brother which is destroyed when they failed to bring their mother back to life.
- It is a story of our life in this world, to restore our being to the original form as in th creation when we are created in eden.

- Along their journey, they met a lot of obstacle, some of it are homonculi, each of them are named after one of the seven deadly sins.
- Lust, gluttony, envy, greed, sloth, wrath, pride... Have you met any of them in your journey of life?

- Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost.
- Grace = Body + Blood of Christ


NARUTO
- Story about war between clan of ninja, and a boy who wants to save his friend and end the hatred in his world.
- In our world sometimes it can be worse, not just the war, the hatred, intolerance, misunderstanding, pride, anger, unlove... But we don't need to lose hope, there is always someone who can make this a better world.
    Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
    I have heard you calling in the night.
    I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
    I will hold your people in my heart.

- Naruto don't mind to go the distance to save sasuke
- There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. (John 15:13)


DORAEMON
- When i was a kid, i always wake up early on sunday morning, sit in front of TV, and watch doraemon perform miracles to help poor nobita.
- Now, every saturday or sunday, i will sit in front of the altar, watch Jesus perform miracles to help sinful people like me.


Well, this list is just for fun for those who love to read manga / watch anime :) You can add your own "reflection" to this list. Bible is stil the better choice to find God and joy and love.
